Born in the blistering heat of Far North Queensland, Brisbane-based rockers The Bear Hunt know a thing or two about the ferocity of the Queensland spirit.
Fresh from their Tropical single tour, the band will join an all-Queensland line-up this Friday at The Milk Factory, to celebrate the single releases of local loves The Ninjas and Old Fashion. A double header of rock n roll, the night is practically going to be the Queensland Avengers in music form.
“The great thing about Queensland is that it’s very much what you see is what you get. Queensland artists are more down to earth and we’ve found Brisbane has held onto its hard rock and grunge roots which is perfect,” said The Bear Hunt’s guitarist Lloyd.
With their spirited Queensland gig only days away, and State Of Origin Game II beginning in less than 12 hours, we asked the band to share with us eight reasons why they love our Sunshine State. Here’s what they had to say…
EIGHT THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT QUEENSLAND
- JT! The fuckin’ king!
- Mangos and lychees
- How it’s acceptable to wear a polar winter coat when it hits 20 degrees but also still be wearing your thongs.
- When it’s so hot you get sweat in your eyes causing you to din squeeze.
- James Spencer
Regardless of whether or not we win State Of Origin tonight, one thing is for sure – the Queensland music scene is slayin’.
